National Day of Civic Hacking

Inviting Local Governments & NonProfits to Submit Project Proposals for NDCH 2018!

National Day of Civic Hacking, on August 11, is an annual nationwide event hosted by Code for America that brings together volunteer civic technologists with local government, and community agencies and organizations to work together on 21st century solutions to organizational and government services challenges.

This year, we’re inviting local city and county governments, and area service organizations to to submit project ideas for the event. We’ll select projects that:

  • Have clear objectives including how the project will improve services or support for citizens, and/or can show cost savings to communities;
  • Can provide the necessary APIs and other relevant data and information volunteers will need to create solutions and;
  • Commit an agency “champion” to the project who will work directly with NDCH teams before and at the event to help them provide the solution the agency is looking for.
  • To have your project considered for Code for Tampa Bay’s 2018 National Day of Civic Hacking event(s) – we hope to hold one Hack for Change event in Pinellas and one in Hillsborough – Please complete our NDCH website form by June 22. Selected projects will be announced by July 2

    Time to Start Planning National Day of Civic Hacking 2018!

    For our April meeting, we’ll be setting up the project timeline for our August National Day of Civic Hacking event. Our guest speaker for our April meeting will be announced soon, along with speakers for upcoming meetings. We’ll be recapping results of March outreach events, and setting up work groups for NDCH organizing. Members are also welcome to share their own projects and bring ideas for NDCH projects.

    We’ll have light foods and refreshments. Please RSVP by the end of March so we have a reasonable headcount for munchies.
