Jobs & More

Reconnect at our March 5 Meetup at the Entrepreneur Collaborative Center!

We’re going back for our future to the Hillsborough County Entrepreneur Collaborative Center in Ybor City, where we’ve met in the past. Regular meetings will resume here, the first Monday of each month, starting at 6pm. We’ll have light foods and refreshments, hear from members about current projects and from local civic leaders on current needs.

We’ll be talking about some upcoming outreach and community engagement opportunities in March and regrouping a bit, as a Code for America local affiliate. Please RSVP by the end of February so we have a reasonable headcount for munchies.  RSVP at our MeetUp page.

Open Hack SUNDAY!

UPDATE: Now that I’ve learned The Attic Cafe is open 10-2 on Sundays, I’m changing the weekend meetings to Sunday at 1 pm. At least the front door to the building will be open for an hour even if the elevator will only stop on the 4th floor. Text me to get to the 3rd floor or meet me for brunch on the 4th floor noonish! —————————————————————————————————————

Code for Tampa Bay is a Code for America Brigade working to use technology to make government services more user friendly and government information more accessible.

Our meetings are open to anyone interested in helping with ongoing projects or starting their own. Computer tech skills are helpful but not required since some projects could benefit from input from designers, artists, subject matter experts – anyone willing to pitch in really.

We’ve historically met on the first Monday of each month but are now beginning to meet on a Saturday as well to make it easier for people with real jobs and other commitments to attend. I picked 3 pm thinking we could go out to dinner after, or just hang out downtown.

We also collaborate with the Tampa Bay Data Science Group (https://www.meetup.com/Data-Scientists-Tampa-Bay/) on socially beneficial data science projects. Those meetings typically happen on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, holidays and hurricanes permitting.

Parking is free north of Kennedy on Saturday! If you really want to get confused, check out this document of hours of operation for city parking meters. (https://www.tampagov.net/sites/default/files/parking/files/Parking%20Meters%20Hours%20of%20Operation_0.pdf) If only there was a simple map we could look at instead. Hey, project idea!

Projects that originated during Hack Zika 2017, and Brigade website-refinement efforts continue.

Local government and community groups invited to bring their projects and requests for assistance to meetings! Or share project ideas/Needs with an email to [masked]

Open Hack Night with Code for Tampa Bay

**** New DATE!!! Let’s start meeting first Wednesday of month because Eddie & Sam’s Pizza is closed on Mondays — <hint hint> ****

Code for Tampa Bay is a Code for America Brigade working to use technology to make government services more user friendly and government information more accessible.

Since free parking opens up at 6pm, I’ve made the official start time 6:30 although we typically get down to business at 7 after some relaxed socializing. Personally, I usually try to park just after 6 before spaces get gobbled up so feel free to show up early.
